The Lost and Found - San Francisco, CA
"The Lost and Found has bands again?"
Apparently so, cuz we played there last night. I guess the place hasn't had live music in a while, and for some reason they're thinking of starting it up again. Or maybe this was just a fluke. But we played, and it was cool.
Two bands from Seattle, whom we met on tour, were now coming down on a tour of their own, and we set up this show for 'em. Lesliwood, out this time as a duo, tore it up with Roxy on acoustic guitar, and Matt on accordian. Roxy's fierce vocals and guitar to match, tempered with the lilting accordian made for an unsettlingly eerie, yet captivating set. Catch 'em in Seattle when they also play with their full band.
In between was Tart. Another group from the rainy city. This time it was three sisters up front with bass and two guitars and Lisa backin' in up on the skins. But the thing that was really cool, was that they all sang. Beautiful harmonies that would draw you in, then twist into an unsettling dissonance, then kick you in the ass with a jarring rebel yell. Then all back to pretty. Odd rhythms, cool interplay of guitar and bass, and a lineup of CHICK, CHICK, CHICK that just simply looked cool on stage.
Then there was us. The first official headlining show of the jj duo. We had a lot of fun, cus there were people there, the other two bands did a great job of setting up the night, AND, we knew we got rock star parking right outside the club.
What could be better?
Oh, we know...How 'bout a bunch of cool friends coming out to see us? Brian, Dean, Charel, Beth, Billy, Lil, Lindsay, Amy, Lisa, Brooke, Burke, Pete...
Thanks to all for making it a fun night!
