Sit n Spin - Seattle, WA

Well, Mark stranded Karen on Saturday at the lovely Sit n Spin in Seattle. Poor boy had to work, so he flew out after Friday's show at the EMP and missed what should have been a spectacular evening for Beautiful Engines to rock the house with lesliwood and Poseur and the crazy gals of Apocalypsticks.

Luckily we knew this might happen, so Karen brought her guitar and drum machine, and ended up doing an impromptu Clevergirl set. (her solo project). It was about a month premature, cuz her first show wasn't supposed to be until the 27th, but heck, she was there, the crowd was there, and why not confuse them with acoustic guitar and a drum machine?

That's just what she did. This place was a Bottom of the Hill on steriods. All indie'd out with appropriate brown skinny pants for the boys, and cute vinyl handbags for the gals. But dammit all if Seattle isn't super nice and friendly. It has become one of Karen's favorite spots to visit. I think Mark might feel the same.

The other bands were a strange mix, but all very talented in their own ways. Poseur was an indie pop trio with Built to Spill vocals, a really cute chick drummer with excellent timing and a spastic, endearing playing style, and a good energy. Karen thoroughly enjoyed their set.

Lesliwood and Tart played oh so well. Much more space to spread out and go wild than the night before, so the energy was way up in both bands, and the sass was flowin'.

Apocalypsticks ended the night with rocker grrl theatrics, a smoke machine, costumes and a listen-up-boys-we're-gonna-kick-your-ass mentality. Scary looking, but sweet as can be. Plus the drummer was the former drummer of the infamous Hell's Belles. Lots of chicks in bands this weekend. Yes!!!

The night was great, albeit a little lonely without the Markster, but shit happens.

As long as it never happens again.
