The Mars Bar - Seattle, WA
On our way up to our buddy Josh's wedding in Kelowna, BC, we stopped off in Seattle to see friends and play a couple of shows. It was a wonderfully relaxing vacation/tour with lots of hanging out and enjoying the amazing weather we always seem to get when we hit Seattle.
Katy from the Mars Bar is a dear friend who always rolls out the red carpet for us, and once again, she made us feel all special and stuff by booking us in her club with TART, and Ms. Led...two bands we've played with many times and love to hang with.
The Mars Bar has really blossomed in the past couple of years since we played their grand opening. They have a steady stream of regulars, a who's who of the Seattle scene always popping by, and a great vibe that makes you feel right at home.
Lesli Wood from Ms. Led got most of her band together to play a full-than-usual set of Roxy and Clark tunes. Of course no matter what this girl's got going on, you know she's going to be fierce and awesome, and playing with amazing people like Matt, Steph, Peg and a cello player who's name I forget. Check out Roxy and Clark, Ms. Led, or Saeta...all three projects are amazing.
Next up was TART, the foursome of girls who played at the Red Devil Lounge with Karen's other band Clevergirl a few weeks prior in San Francisco. Once again these three sisters and their awesome drummer Lisa were a delight to see with their blend of math rock meets irish folk song meets creepy, but beautiful harmony.
We got to play last, which was an honor. Lots of people there for a Thursday night, and all of them gracious and cool. We sweated in the little club, and toasted with our friends Johnny, and Delany, Lewis, Katy, all the kids from Tart and Ms. Led, plus many more who were kind enough to join us that night.
Ok you guys, thanks again for all your hospitality. We'll be back.
