Political Fundraiser for "No on Prop J"
Beautiful Engines joins the political game, and plays for this fund raiser to promote awareness of the evils of Prop J. The city wanting to build high income highrise housing in quite, cute little neighborhoods. BAD BAD BAD.
But the truth of the matter is that although we agreed with the cause of the evening, Mark and I are not very political. But we ARE little music whores that will sell our souls to play anywhere. Yes, Matt Gonzalez spoke that night after we played. And yes, it felt good to be part of the solution. But there were also two trays full of seared ahi tuna by the buffet, and a stage to play upon. What more do we really ask for?
Shallow? perhaps. Soul-less? Maybe.
But we are not politicians. We are MUSI-cians. So we brought to the evening not our political agenda, nor or clout within the system, nor our rousing patriotic prose. Nay. We brought our ROCK!
The other really cool thing of the evening was this dude whose name I forgot (I'll get it), who put on a one-man cowboy musical. He had choreography, props, lighting, fog machines, sing-song numbers. Aw man, it was one of the funniest and entertaining things I've seen live in years. I'll get his name, and you should go see him, or book him, or write about him, or put him in your sitcom, cuz he's GREAT!!!!!!
Thanks to Shannon and Ruby for having us play that night. Great place. Great show. Great food. Great cause.
