Cafe Venus/MarsBar - Seattle, WA
If you look back at our previous shows with Beautiful Engines as well as our old outfit Jimmyjack, you'll realize how much we love playing this place.
Katy is our dear friend who runs the joint, and it's nothing but a warm, inviting, communal, fun place to hang out, shoot pool, see bands, and bond.
She harbored us for two nights this time, and it was lovely.
We played with:
Racetrack (this band is young and hungry, they've got power behind their pop, and the sass girl guitarist up front. Chris and Jackson on bass/drums describe themselves:
Racetrack's poppy breed of indie-garage songs have been compared to Liz Phair, Death Cab For Cutie, Sarge and The Spinanes. Or, picture riding a go-kart while eating a pickle.
and Ms. Led "Kick-ass local combo fronted by the ferocious Lesli Wood. Expect thrashing, punk influenced pop rock girded by fierce intelligence and emotional directness." Bumbershoot Preview: The Stranger (Seattle)
That about says it all.
Thanks to Katy, Lesli, Peg, Steph, Matt, Johnny, Shane, Sean, Flower, Sasha, Lawrence and all the rest of the Seattle gang. You're beautiful.
