Hotel Utah - San Francisco, CA

Hadn't played here in a while, and not since it closed down and re-opened under new management. Luckily, the new owners were the old workers, and they have kept the vibe and the menu mostly intact. Any changes are all for the better. Just when we thought the burgers couldn't get any more delicious, WHAMMO!, they did it.

Congrats.

Oh yeah, they also got new stage monitors, which is awesome!!!!!!

Karen's good friend Lindsay, who moved away to Portland Maine, went to college with the woman who headlined this show, Laura Thomas.

She had planned to play with a full band, but flaky musicians abound, and they didn't show up for practice.....GRRRR.....

But her guitarist (Chris?) really did a beautiful job of backing her up without hogging the spotlight, or being transparent.

She's been singin' since a wee tot, and it shows...she's got a voice that belts fire! The kind you don't often hear in the untrained world of rock 'n' roll. But the girls got cajones, and it was great to see here again and share the stage.

Also, speaking of the flaky musicians again...the last band cancelled the day of the gig, so our friends from RYP came to the rescue. They really fit well with Laura's style, and brought great energy to a late night scene.

Thanks Laura, Thanks Renee.
